Matt Eilers is from Yorkville, New York and was born with a heart condition. Matt had to have open heart surgeries at two weeks old and then again at 10 years old. He struggled with heart problems for five more years, until he received a heart transplant. It took Matt several years to get well enough to go on his dream hunt.
On December 6th,2015 Tim Jahn, the Wisconsin Ambassador for Hunt of a Lifetime picked Matt and his dad Ed up at the airport and headed to the Union Rod and Gun Club to fine tune Matts shooting skills.
Mark Braun and Todd Gillard met Matt, Tim and Ed at the club to help out. Mark took the lead with his assortment of weapons. Matt surprised everyone with his shooting skills and had a great time shooting the variety of guns.
The next Morning Mark drove Matt and Ed up to the American Adventure Ranch in Fairchild Wisconsin. They were greeted by Rick and Thea Vojtik that donated the hunt.
Matt, Ed, and Mark were put in a box stand later that day and a few hours later, Matt, with one shot, took this 206" class non-typical trophy Buck.
Matt and Ed were so appreciative of everything that Hunt Of A Lifetime and the shooting clubs here in South Eastern Wisconsin did to make his dream come true.
Matt is eagerly waiting for the mount to come back from the taxidermist.
