In 2010, Hunt of a Lifetime received a request from Bryan Augustine to hunt white tail deer in the state of Wisconsin. Bryan is a boy from Pennsylvania that has been fighting Leukemia since he was 10 years old. Hunt of a Lifetime is a non-profit charity that arranges and pays for dream hunting and fishing trips for boys and girls 21 and under with life threatening illness.
The trip had to be canceled in 2012 when Bryan’s leukemia resurfaced. After another year of Chemo and radiation therapy, the hunt was re-scheduled for November of 2013.
On November 6, 2013 I picked up a very excited Bryan and his father Tom from the airport. We sighted his gun in at Union Rod and Gun Club and headed to the American Adventure Ranch in Fairchild WI.
The hunt was donated by the owners of the ranch, Thea and Rick Vojtik.
After two hard days of hunting, being cold and fatigued, Bryan was in a stare down with a huge Buck. With very slow movement Bryan was able to get his gun up and take a perfect shot. After a 30 yard track we found Bryan’s buck, a 12 point 140 class buck.
Besides Bryan and his dad’s excitement, the whole camp was excited for Bryan, knowing the cold and fatigue Bryan was going thru.
Thanks to all the Local Unions, Contractors, Gun Clubs, and individual that made this dream come true and help a young boy and his father forget about Bryan’s illness, at least for a short time.
